The Edinburgh International Book Festival has welcomes millions of readers and thousands of authors to celebrate and inspire books and reading since 1983.

In 2025, the festival will run from 9th to 24th August.

Events held in multiple venues across the city of Edinburgh give readers a chance to meet their literary heroes and children the chance to fall in love with books and reading. As a charity, the reach of the Edinburgh International Book Festival extends far beyond the festival to improve access to literary events and improve literacy in Scotland.

Highlights of the 2025 festival include: Faridah Àbíké-Íyímídé, Laura Bates, Munroe Bergdorf, Samantha Shannon, Julia Donaldson, Abi Elphinstone, Bea Fitzgerald, Alan Hollingshurst, Alwyn Hamilton, Alice Oseman, Maggie O’Farrell, Caroline O’Donoghue, VE Schwab, Ali Smith, Adrian Tchaikosky and many more.
